Tuesday April 29, 2014
CRADLEY returned to their brilliant best as they stormed to an emphatic 71-19 victory over Buxton at Monmore Green.

Having suffered a frustrating defeat at Coventry last week, the Heathens bounced back in remarkable style to hit the 70 point mark for the first time in the modern era.

The hosts broke their club record win for the second time this season - overhauling the 47 point winning margin they achieved against Scunthorpe last month.

And team boss Will Pottinger was full of praise for his side following a professional display which saw record a remarkable twelve 5-1s.

He said: "We've got to be really happy with that - we were always expected to get the win but not by such a huge margin.

"Full credit to all seven riders for what was a brilliant performance and a record breaking win in the end.

"We've just got to enjoy this moment, and move on to Mildenhall in a couple of weeks which is going to be a tough test."

Skipper Paul Starke and the impressive Steve Worrall both scored faultless maximums - whilst Tom Perry and Max Clegg joined them in going unbeaten.

The middle order duo saw off two Buxton tactical rides to ensure the powerhouse Heathens remained in complete control throughout.

Another magnificent showing from Matt Williamson ensured Cradley had an unprecedented five riders going through the card with a sublime team display.

Nathan Greaves bounced back from a fall in a tight heat one to claim three classy race wins - one of them paid - whilst Danny Phillips completed his strong start to the season at reserve on what was a memorable night.
