HEATHENS 57 COVENTRY 35

Tuesday July 22, 2014
CRADLEY continued their sensational run of form by romping to a 57-35 victory over Coventry in an entertaining clash at Monmore Green.

The in-form Heathens gained revenge against the only side to defeat them in 2014 with an impressive display to extend their winning run to 10 meetings.

They were made to work extremely hard for all three points before pulling clear with three 5-1s in the final three races to wrap up a resounding win.

Team boss Will Pottinger revealed he was not entirely pleased with the performance but was delighted with another superb result.

Said Pottinger: "We've got to be happy with a victory by a 22 point margin; it was another great result.

"We are a little disappointed by the fact it could have easily been more to be honest. We threw away some silly points but fortunately it didn't cost us in the end and hopefully it won't happen again.

"It was still a good win for us against a strong side, and everybody contributed once again. The reserves scored well, Steve (Worrall) and Paul (Starke) led the team superbly from the top end and everyone else chipped in as well so we can't complain."

Skipper Paul Starke led the side in perfect fashion with a faultless maximum which saw him break his own track record in the opening race of the night.

He was backed up brilliantly by Steve Worrall, who dropped his only points when he mistakenly pulled up on the third lap of heat 11 believing the race had reached it's conclusion.

Talented youngsters Max Clegg and Nathan Greaves both put in impressive displays to notch paid double figures, whilst Danny Phillips once again performed well at reserve.

Middle order man Tom Perry recovered from a tough start to end his night by playing his part in two vital Heathens 5-1s, whilst Matt Williamson also added a useful three points despite a difficult night.

It was another superb performance from me the formidable Heathens who continue to prove a dominant force once again in 2014 as they look to defend their National League title.
