Friday October 31, 2014
CRADLEY are National League Champions once again after they sealed the title against Coventry on a memorable night at Leicester.

The Heathens travelled to Beaumont Park with their title hopes on a knife-edge with a 10 point lead from the first leg.

Yet they put in a spectacular display to claim a 46-44 win on the night and seal a comfortable aggregate triumph.

After quickly settling any nerves early on, the Heathens wrapped up victory as early as heat 12 as Max Clegg and Danny Phillips stormed clear to spark jubilant scenes amongst the passionate travelling contingent.

It was an unforgettable night as the Heathens completed a spectacular season by retaining their title to complete a second successive League and Cup double.

Having bagged National League Fours and Knockout Cup glory earlier in the week, team boss Will Pottinger was in jubilant mood.

Said Pottinger: "Three trophies in a week is a fantastic achievement, and to defend our title from last year is absolutely superb.

"It's been a brilliant team effort over the course of the whole season, and we are just so pleased to have got the job done tonight to make it all worthwhile.

"To lose only one match over a long campaign is a tremendous achievement and shows what a superb team this has been, so we are absolutely over the moon."

In-form youngster Clegg top scored with a fine display, bagging double figures alongside skipper Paul Starke to lead the side.

Nathan Greaves also impressed with an excellent showing, whilst Phillips bolstered the lower order with a determined display.

Middle order man Tom Perry and guesting No.1 Ben Morley added useful contributions as Cradley came out on top in an entertaining clash.
