HEATHENS 59 STOKE 33

Wednesday July 08, 2015
CRADLEY got back to winning ways in fine style as they stormed to a crushing 59-33 victory over Stoke at Perry Barr.

The Motor Market Heathens had three riders in scintillating form as Max Clegg, Matt Williamson and Ellis Perks accounted for all 15 race wins.

Perks struck a spectacular seven-ride paid maximum on his return to reserve, whilst Clegg went through the card with a faultless display in the No.1 spot.

No.5 Williamson also suffered just one defeat to an opposing rider as the trio overpowered the Potters to ensure their side earned three important points to get their National League title bid back on track.

It was a confidence-boosting night for the Heathens after two successive defeats, and team boss Will Pottinger was delighted to see his side back at their best.

Said Pottinger: “It was important that we bounced back from a couple of defeats in the league to get a win, and we managed to do that.

“Stoke didn’t win a race, so we were quite dominant out in front and it was great to win by a 26 point margin.

“It was brilliant to see the lads riding well again. We’ll take a lot of positives from that performance, and hopefully when we come back against Buxton in two weeks we can perform like that again.” Whilst Clegg, Williamson and Perks stole the show, Arron Mogridge also
enjoyed a welcome return to form in the No.2 spot.

He also suffered just one defeat from his five rides, recording four paid wins as he was involved in numerous 5-1s.

Tyler Govier also fought hard for his two points, being struck with misfortunate as he suffered bike troubles after battling to second place in his final ride.

A recurrence of a knee injury saw Adam Extance pull out after failing to score in his first three rides on a guest appearance at No.3, but the Heathens nonetheless emerged with a much needed victory.

They will be back in action as they welcome Buxton to Perry Barr on Wednesday, July 22 (7.30).
