Saturday September 10, 2016
CRADLEY skipper Max Clegg struck a stunning maximum to lead them to a 49-41 over Stoke at Loomer Road.

Clegg capped off a faultless performance with a brilliant heat 15 victory to secure all four points and give the Motor Market Heathens’ play-off hopes a huge boost.

It was a battling display from Will Pottinger’s side to complete a quick-fire double over the Potters having stormed to a comprehensive win at Monmore Green last Tuesday.

Team boss Pottinger was delighted to see his side come out on top in a crucial clash to strengthen their grip on the all-important fourth spot.

Pottinger said: “It was important that we got a win this evening, and it keeps our chances of getting into the play-offs high.

“It was good to get all four points in the last race, and it was a great ride from Max Clegg to get to the front on a night when passing was at a premium.

“Max was superb, and everyone contributed to the win. Every point was vital in the end and it was a good performance.”

Clegg reeled off five straight wins with a spectacular display, whilst Luke Chessell also recorded three vital race wins in the engine room of the side.

No.1 Ashley Morris added a vital eight points, plus Bradley Andrews contributed paid double figures to give them the edge at reserve.

With Ben Basford, No.8 Joe Lawlor and Richard Andrews all chipping in with important points, the Heathens edged a tight encounter.

They will now prepare for another huge meeting as they head to Buxton on Sunday (3pm) for their second meeting of the weekend.
