CRADLEY returned to winning ways with a 48-42 win over Lakeside at Monmore Green.

The Motor Market Heathens bounced back from two straight defeats to add another three important points to their SGB National League tally.

Despite the visiting Hammers staging a late fightback to secure a consolation league point the Heathens were able to hold on for their second victory of the campaign.

Cradley team manager Will Pottinger said: "After losing a couple of fixtures recently, before the meeting we'd have taken any sort of win.

"Thankfully the lads were able to do just that and it's another important result for us.

"I want to focus on the positives; all of the lads except Joe (Lawlor) managed to record at least one race win and Ryan Burton in particular did a really good job at reserve.

"We've got a few away meetings coming up now and hopefully we can build on tonight's result."

Showman Danny Ayres rounded off a confidence boosting day by top scoring for the Heathens after also bagging the highest individual score for Leicester in the SGB Premiership at Rye House earlier in the afternoon.

Ryan Burton played a pivotal role from the reserve berths while heat-leaders Tom Perry and Dan Greenwood provided invaluable back up for the team.

Luke Harris continued his solid form and registered a crucial race win in Heat 14 to seal the victory for the Heathens.

Connor Dwyer dominated heat eight once again while Joe Lawlor experienced a tough night mechanically.

The Heathens travel to Plymouth on Friday (May 5) before heading to Leicester on Saturday (May 6) in the Ivor Brown Trophy.
