KENT 56 HEATHENS 34

Monday July 31, 2017
CRADLEY team manager Will Pottinger branded their 56-34 defeat at Kent "unacceptable" - and is delaying his journey home to assess all possible options.

Already having to use rider replacement for outgoing injured star Dan Greenwood, the Motor Market Heathens then had to find a last minute guest reserve for Tyler Govier who was unable to get out of last minute work commitments.

An incredible, yet shocking, stat saw the Heathens concede a 5-1 in every heat where they were without spearhead duo Danny Ayres and Tom Perry.

And Pottinger apologised to the travelling supporters on behalf of the lower order, who managed just eight points between the four of them.

Said Pottinger: "To say we were too long in the tail is an understatement.

"In the races without Tom and Danny we didn't look very competitive at all and it's simply not good enough.

"We're a team aiming for the play-offs and to get rolled over so easily is unacceptable really.

"Tom and Danny got us back into the meeting after heat six, but we collapsed after that really.

"Our supporters deserve so much better and while options may be limited at this stage, we certainly need to look at what else is out there.

"I can only apologise once again to our supporters and we simply have to turn things around against the Isle of Wight at Perry Barr next Wednesday."
