USA ACE MAKES HAMMER DEBUT

Saturday October 21, 2017
BROC Nicol, the classy American ace, has sent a 'come and get me' plea to British promoters - and he's in the shop window at Wolverhampton on Monday in Cradley's showpiece Golden Hammer (7.30).

Nicol is in the UK looking for track time in a bid to pin down a permanent team spot next season and will follow in the footsteps of Heathens legends from California Greg Hancock, Bruce Penhall, Billy Hamill and Bobby Schwartz in racing in the event.

His tussles with Heathens heroes Ashley Morris, Max Clegg, Tom Perry and Nathan Greaves - all league winners with the club - are set to be a mouth-watering prospect.

Heathens co-boss Nigel Pearson said: "We are delighted to welcome Broc and our sincere thanks go to Martin Hagon who has made this special appearance possible.

"Broc knows all about the Heathens tradition from his dad, Doug, who used to live in Cradley Heath during his time in England.

"It's an opportunity for Broc to impress and I'm really looking forward to his clashes with our boys, past and present."

The club are also pleased to welcome Birmingham youngster Taylor Hamphire, who impressed at Perry Barr after joining the Brummies from King's Lynn.

The event is supporting Dudley Stroke Association and gates open at 6.30 with 20 heats and 16 riders doing battle for the prestigious Hammer.
