HEATHENS v COVENTRY, PREVIEW

Sunday May 20, 2018
CRADLEY team boss Will Pottinger wants his side to continue where they left off when they host Coventry in the National Trophy at Monmore Green on Monday (7.30).

The Motor Market Heathens are currently tied on points with both Birmingham and the Bees at the top of their Northern Group and know that Monday’s derby could prove to be a vital clash come the final standings.

Cradley hand a debut to recent recruit Alfie Bowtell but will be without Bradley Andrews (concussion) as well as Drew Kemp who is racing for parent club Mildenhall.

But with wins home and away to Stoke, Pottinger is confident his side can dig deep to make it three out of three.

Said Pottinger: “We must look to continue from where we left off in our two matches against Stoke.

“Admittedly we were slow out of the traps against the Potters at home but we pulled away with four 5-1’s along with a 5-0 in the last five races.

“I wasn’t too surprised at the slow start as we’d had very little chance to practice at Wolves so naturally it was going to take a race or two for the lads to find their feet at a new home track for most.

“I was very impressed at how well everybody got on with each other though and the team spirit is already very good.”

Rider replacement will operate for Bradley Andrews while local lad James Chattin steps in at reserve.

Coventry include former Heathens Jon Armstrong and Luke Harris as well as 2014 title winner Danny Phillips.

CRADLEY: Adam Roynon, Bradley Andrews R/R, Kyle Bickley, Conor Dwyer, Alfie Bowtell, James Chattin, Jason Edwards.

COVENTRY: Connor Mountain, Luke Harris, Jon Armstrong, Danny Phillips, Luke Ruddick, Jamie Halder, Ryan MacDonald.
