CRADLEY chief Gary Patchett wants to send neighbours Birmingham back to Perry Barr empty handed from Monday’s derby showdown at Monmore Green (7.30).

The Motor Market Heathens wrap up their National Trophy group home meetings knowing a win by seven points or more would extend their lead over the Brummies to five at the top.

And Patchett admits it will be no easy task against a Birmingham side who have lost just two of their 15 team fixtures so far.

But with the Heathens still able to use Drew Kemp at reserve, he feels that could potentially be the key difference between the two sides.

“It really is a mouthwatering prospect,” Patchett said.

“We’re both two very strong teams with some extremely talented riders in both line-ups and we’re in for a super night of racing.

“Obviously things are quite tight between us at the top of our group, which is why I’d like to see us not only get the win, but make sure we send them back to Perry Barr with no points at all.

“That would really pile the pressure on them at Buxton next Sunday and depending on what happens in that one, we may or we may not have to win at their place next month.

“Having Drew at reserve still could be key for us and he could find himself a very busy rider again and we may use him to maximum advantage while we can.

“The flip side as well is that Leon Flint is no longer at reserve for Birmingham so the timing on both of those fronts couldn’t be more perfect to be honest with you.

“They’ll be a lot weaker without being able to use him seven times and that’s where I feel we’ll have the upper hand with us having that luxury with someone of Drew’s talent.

“But this is definitely our biggest meeting of the season and we’re hoping the supporters will turn out in numbers to give the riders as much encouragement possible.”

Heathens are also hoping that Bradley Andrews will be fit enough to take his place at No.2 while former fans’ favourite Danny Ayres stands in for injured skipper Adam Roynon.

The Heathens are offering reduced admission for any members of the Armed Forces who show ID on entry at the concessionary rate of £10.

CRADLEY: Danny Ayres, Bradley Andrews, Kyle Bickley, Jason Edwards, Alfie Bowtell, Drew Kemp, Chris Widman.

BIRMINGHAM: Tom Bacon, Callum Walker, James Shanes, Leon Flint, Danyon Hume, Arran Butcher, Layne Cupitt (if fit).
