SMITH MAKES DEBUT AGAINST FORMER SIDE

Sunday June 02, 2019
CRADLEY debutant Jack Smith locks horns with his old side Belle Vue at Monmore on Monday (7.30).

The 20-year-old has been signed as a replacement for Tom Brennan who broke his leg in three places in a crash at Eastbourne last month.
Smith, who won the National League title with Monday’s opponents in 2017, is confident he can come in and do a job for the Anchor Logistics Heathens.
And he says he can’t wait to race in front of his new fans for the first time.
“I’ve guested for the Heathens before and they’re supported in really good numbers for this level,” Smith said.
“They’re a club with a lot of history and tradition and it’s an honour to be involved in this year’s young, exciting team.
“I actually enjoy riding the Monmore track; I’ve scored some good points there in the past and I know I’ve got to get to grips with it again pretty quickly.
“But I don’t see any reason why I can’t do a good job for Cradley and I feel I can be an important rider for them and that they can be a good club for me.”
A full, exclusive interview with Smith can be found in Monday’s official raceday programme which will be available trackside for just £3.
Belle Vue are led by reigning British Youth Champion Leon Flint while former Heathens Kyle Bickley and Danny Phillips complete a powerful spearhead trio.
The Colts also include talented teenager Jordan Palin at reserve who has been racking up the points in the opening weeks of his first full season.
Cradley have won all three of their fixtures so far, with the two home meetings finishing in a 46-44 scoreline.

CRADLEY: Max Clegg, Lewis Whitmore, Danny Halsey, Luke Harris, Jack Smith, Tom Spencer, Harry McGurk.
BELLE VUE: Leon Flint, Ben Woodhull, Danny Phillips, Arran Butcher, Kyle Bickley, Ben Rathbone, Jordan Palin.
