LAMBERT WINS FAST GOLDEN HAMMER

Tuesday September 28, 2010
KING'S LYNN star Simon Lambert was the deserving winner of the hugely successful Golden Hammer revival at Monmore Green.

Lambert, who also appears in the Premier League for Sheffield, went through the card with a faultless 15-point maximum to finish two points clear of Buxton's Craig Cook, with Dudley Heathens skipper Lee Smart completing the podium finishers on twelve.

Smart had looked a good shout for the crown when he won his first three rides, but he lost out to Lambert in Heat 14 and was relegated to third place in a tight scrap with team-mate Micky Dyer.

The two Heathens men ended up meeting again in a run-off for third after finishing level on points, but it turned into a demonstration outing for Smart as the unlucky Dyer blew an engine on the start-line.

Heathens Chairman Nigel Pearson said: "It's been a great night, once again we are delighted with the support we've received and everyone has enjoyed it with Simon a very worthy winner.

"It's also been good to run the meeting under the FAST banner and promote the work of the Dudley Stroke Association, and we thank them for their support. I can confirm that we will certainly look to stage the event again next season."
