DUDLEY Heathens lifted the Travel Plus Trophy with a hard fought 49-37 win over the USA touring team at Monmore on Monday.

Winter signing Adam Roynon notched a perfect 15-point maximum for the former Cradley club who had to overcome the loss of skipper Jon Armstrong with rib damage after his first race.

They were behind in the early stages but from determined racing from Roynon and reserve Darryl Ritchings, who scored 8+1, saw them home in front of a bumper opening night crowd.

Boss Will Pottinger said: "We were worried we might lose but we managed to claw it back and Adam was unstoppable.

"It was a good meeting and all the lads will be happy to get a home meeting under their belt.

"We will have to keep a close check on Armo with his rib injury and we are all looking forward to the trip to Mildenhall in our first league meeting on Sunday."
