DUDLEY Heathens roared to their biggest victory since joining the National League with a points bonanza against King’s Lynn at Monmore Green.
Heathens’ 42-point margin of victory against the Young Stars was one point better than their 67-26 win over Rye House in August 2010, and it continued their highly impressive start to the season.
Skipper Adam Roynon was never threatened on his way to a 15-point maximum, and Ashley Morris joined him in being unbeaten by an opposing rider thanks to some clever first turns.
But it was also a night when the lower end of the team performed strongly as Heathens covered well for the absence of Tom Perry, who was on Premier League duty.
James White Williams enjoyed two race wins, and Darryl Ritchings shared in four 5-1s after finishing third in Heat 1.
The Young Stars’ sole successes came with a win apiece for Lewis Kerr and Jake Knight, but Kerr and ex-Heathen Brendan Johnson both conceded 5-1s when taking tactical rides, leaving the visitors a well-beaten side.
Roynon said: “It was nice to get a 15-point maximum away at King’s Lynn and then another one here tonight, and it was good night for us all.
“I thought the whole team were excellent, and the reserves were the stars for me because the way they were coming from the back in some races was great to watch.
“It’s been a really good meeting and I hope other teams are watching that and seeing that we can put in performances like that even without Tom. We need to keep on this roll now.”
