BUXTON 27 HEATHENS 65

Sunday June 17, 2012
DUDLEY Heathens have gone top of the National League table after a stunning 65-27 win at Buxton on Sunday.

The former Cradley club have now won all five of their league outings - four of them away - and are in a great position to reach the Knockout Cup Final in addition to their National Shield glory.

Every Heathens rider played their part in a proper demolition job on the Hitmen, who they had already put out of the Knockout Cup - and they'll be looking to complete the double when the sides meet again at Monmore Green on Tuesday week, June 26.

Tom Perry top scored with 13+1 for the Heathens and guest Ashley Birks, in for the unavailable Adam Roynon, romped to a perfect 12-point maximum.

Heathens boss Will Pottinger said: "This is a great way to follow up our win at Rye House. It means we have gained eight league points from two meetings at the weekend and we're top.

"But there is still a long way to go and we have a lot of home meetings to go. The ultimate aim is to be in top form for the play-offs which decide the champions."

BUXTON 27: Robert Branford 9, Adam McKinna 6, Luke Priest 5+1, Dean Felton 4, Ryan Blacklock 2+1, Richard Andrews 1, Michael Neale 0.

DUDLEY 65: Tom Perry 13+1, Ashley Birks 12, Ashley Morris 11+3, Dan Greenwood 10+1, Byron Bekker 8+3, Darryl Ritchings 7+1, James White-Williams 4+2.
