HEATHENS 68 ISLE OF WIGHT 22

Tuesday September 04, 2012
DUDLEY secured their position at the top of the National League table with a 68-22 thrashing of Isle of Wight at Monmore Green.

Heathens did not have things all their own way early on though, but a sensational return of nine 5-1s in the final ten heats ensured that they were comprehensive winners.

Isle of Wight did use two tactical rides - but Paul Starke lost his steel shoe when on course for six-points to gift Ashley Morris and Darryl Ritchings a 5-1 in heat 7, before the same pairing cancelled out Danny Warwick's attempt four races later.

In the absence of number 1 Adam Roynon through injury, Ashley Birks guested and struck a paid maximum whilst Tom Perry was also unbeaten on his return to the main body.

The man who dropped back down to reserve in his place - Darryl Ritchings - bagged his second consecutive maximum in sensational style whilst his partner James White-Williams scooped the rider of the night award after three wins out of four.

Dan Greenwood, Ashley Morris and Byron Bekker all performed superbly for the rampant former-Cradley club giving the side no less than fourteen race winners as each team member contributed at least paid 7.

White-Williams said: "It was a massive win for the team. Everyone played their part and we couldn't have done any better really.

"To get top of the league is great and the way we have been performing has just been unreal. It's been a brilliant season.”
