Tuesday April 09, 2013
REVAMPED Heathens continued their superb start to the season with a brilliant 60-35 Travel Plus Trophy first leg win over Coventry at Monmore on Tuesday.

Skipper Ashley Morris was unbeaten from his five outings with 13+2 and one of the many new signings Lewis Blackbird notched 13 on his home debut.

But once again it was a solid all-round team display with 15-year-old reserves Nathan Greaves and Max Clegg winning the hearts of Heathens fans.

Fans packed the Monmore terraces to see Heathens put themselves in a commanding position to claim the silverware in the return leg at Brandon on Friday, April 19.

Said Morris: “It feels good to get a paid maximum but more importantly I’m really pleased with the way the team has started the season.

“It’s important for me to be a genuine No.1 and I feel I did that tonight, but we have come together superbly as a team and I’m really pleased.

“The new signings have been superb and it was a great night for the team and we really appreciate the support from our supporters.”
