REDCAR 51 HEATHENS 42

Thursday May 30, 2013
DUDLEY Heathens suffered a 51-42 defeat at the hands of Redcar in the Julie Lewis Memorial Trophy.

Having fallen 12 behind after 11 races, the visiting Heathens staged a late fightback following a Paul Starke tactical ride win - but they were unable to edge victory against a strong Bears side.

Starke led the charge with 13 points from the middle order, whilst Ashley Morris and returning Tom Perry notched paid double figures.

Max Clegg enjoyed another strong night from the reserve berth, but with Dan Greenwood missing the side just fell short.

But Will Pottinger was pleased with the performance and believes it was ideal preparation for Tuesday's KO Cup tie against Buxton.

He said: "It was a good run out for the lads ahead of Tuesday's match against Buxton.

"It was a good performance considering Redcar fielded a very strong side, and to run them within nine points was a good result."

DUDLEY 42: Paul Starke 14, Tom Perry 9+1, Ashley Morris 8+2, Max Clegg 6+1, Gareth Isherwood 3+1, Nathan Greaves 2+1, Dan Greenwood R/R
