BORDER RAIDERS 51 HEATHENS 41

Saturday June 15, 2013
DUDLEY boss Will Pottinger was pleased with his side's performance after they suffered a narrow 51-41 defeat against Berwick in a Challenge match.

With Lewis Blackbird joining Gareth Isherwood and Dan Greenwood on the injury list at the last minute following a crash riding for Scunthorpe last night, Heathens travelled to Shielfield with a heavily depleted side.

Yet they were able to give a strong Berwick Raiders side a tough test - and Pottinger was happy with the display.

He said: "We were happy with the performance to be honest as we were very depleted with Lewis Blackbird injuring his shoulder at Scunthorpe last night.

"Running a strong Berwick team within ten points is very respectable, and the young lads Max Clegg and Nathan Greaves learnt a lot at a track they had never visited before."

Former skipper Adam Roynon put in an excellent performance as he returned in the No.1 race jacket, whilst Paul Starke continued his excellent form with a double figure contribution.

Steve Worrall also completed a powerful top three as he made a guest appearance, whilst youngsters Nathan Greaves and Max Clegg also put in promising displays from reserve.
