HEATHENS 69 KING'S LYNN 23

Tuesday April 08, 2014
CRADLEY made it two wins out of two in 2014 in impressive fashion as they stormed to a 69-23 victory over King's Lynn at Monmore Green.

A sublime display throughout the Heathens side ensured they seized complete control of the National Shield tie as they equalled their club record victory.

The hosts struck an unprecedented ten 5-1s and ran no last places with a remarkable performance - and team boss Will Pottinger was understandably delighted.

An elated Pottinger said: "I can't fault anybody tonight - everybody did really well and it was a great win.

"Everyone rode well which was shown by the fact we had no last places, and for Nathan (Greaves) and Tom (Perry) in particular it was in stark contrast to last weeks' meeting against Coventry.

"The performance tonight is very encouraging - we will have tougher tests ahead there is no doubt about that but things are looking positive at the moment."

Brilliant No.5 Steve Worrall romped to a faultless maximum after some textbook gating, whilst Max Clegg also ended unbeaten from four rides following a determined showing.

The popular teenager formed a deadly middle-order duo with Tom Perry as the latter was only denied a maximum by the narrowest of margins following a scintillating battle with Young Stars' No.1 Lewis Rose.

No.1 Paul Starke joined Perry in suffering just one defeat in his first meeting for the club this year - whilst Nathan Greaves completed a powerful top five.

The 16 year old ace bounced back from a frustrating night against Coventry last week to bag a classy nine point haul including two composed wins from his final two rides.

Down at reserve both Matt Williamson and Danny Phillips again starred - suffering just one defeat apiece as Cradley cruised to a quite marvellous win.

CRADLEY 69: Steve Worrall 15, Tom Perry 12+1, Max Clegg 9+3, Matt Williamson 9+1, Nathan Greaves 9, Paul Starke 8+3, Danny Phillips 7+4.

KING’S LYNN 23: Lewis Rose 8, Darren Mallett 5, Kyle Hughes 4, James Cockle 3, Josh Bailey 2, Scott Campos 0, Darryl Ritchings R/R.
