HEATHENS 64 STOKE 30

Tuesday June 17, 2014
CRADLEY moved to the top of the National League table courtesy of a comprehensive 64-30 victory over Stoke at Monmore Green.

The rampant Heathens comfortably overpowered the Potters in an entertaining clash to leapfrog rivals Mildenhall and move two points clear at top of the standings.

It was another impressive showing from Cradley, who continue to establish themselves as the side to beat in the third tier with a series of crushing wins.

And team boss Will Pottinger was delighted to see his side put in another professional performance.

He said: "I can't fault anybody tonight - it was another great team effort and an excellent result.

"It was a solid team performance with everyone playing their part again, so we've got to be pleased with that.

"It's great to go top of the table, and hopefully we can continue our good run of form to make sure we stay there."

Max Clegg led the side superbly with a five-ride paid maximum following some determined riding, whilst Paul Starke also recorded four wins from his four rides.

No.5 Steve Worrall narrowly missed out on going unbeaten following a tight battle with Potters man Ben Wilson in heat 15, yet he proved hugely impressive once again as all three heat-leaders piled up the points.

The remaining members of the side also impressed, with Matt Williamson finishing strongly after a tough start whilst Nathan Greaves continued his excellent form with a composed display.

Down at reserve, Tom Perry won his first and last rides in fine style whilst youngster Danny Phillips put in a gutsy performance to bag a superb paid eight points haul.

The home side accounted for all 15 race winners with what was a magnificent showing, and they will be hoping for more of the same when they host Scunthorpe and Mildenhall in a mouth-watering double header next week.

CRADLEY 64: Max Clegg 14+1, Steve Worrall 12+1, Paul Starke 12, Nathan Greaves 7+1, Tom Perry 7, Danny Phillips 6+2, Matt Williamson 6+1.

STOKE 30: Ben Wilson 9, Jon Armstrong 8, Ben Hopwood 7, Chris Widman 2+2, Lee Payne 2, Adam Kirby 2, Rob Shuttleworth 0.
