HEATHENS 50 BIRMINGHAM BULLS 46

Tuesday September 20, 2011
DUDLEY signed off their last team match of the season with a 50-46 Challenge match victory over Birmingham Bulls at Monmore Green.

Ashley Morris took the plaudits by top-scoring with 11, but the real hero of the night was comeback man Mark Robinson who marked his track return after 20-years with a 7+2 score.

The 43-year-old rolled back the years and even tasted victory when taking the chequered flag in Heat 8.

The meeting was raced in difficult weather conditions, but the Heathens held off a late Bulls fightback to register a well-deserved victory.

Heathens chairman Nigel Pearson said: “We’d like to thank the riders for giving it their best in tricky race conditions and to the supporters for turning out after what has been a poor day weather wise.

“Both teams gave it their best on the track and served up some good racing for the big crowd and we thank them again for continuing to turn out in huge numbers all season.

“It’s been another enjoyable campaign and we’ll be back bigger and better next year.”

The final Heathens action of the season will be in three weeks time at Monmore Green when Team GB U21s take on USA.
